My name is Lakelyn Wiley. I am a student at the University of Mary Washington and will graduate in the spring of 2019 with a BA in History. Although my time at Mary Washington has been short, I have had the opportunity to research a variety of topics such as the Armenian Genocide, Material culture behind ice cream scoops of prohibition, Halidé Edip, James VI and I and witchcraft, and that only vaguely details my first semester. Currently, I am exploring the nineteenth-century decision for mass emigration of freedmen to Liberia. I have also made the decision to pursue Liberian emigration for my thesis paper this semester.
Currently, I am working at the Valentine Museum in Richmond, VA. I am posting weekly updates throughout the semester so check it out on my blog!
